Carnival Miracle Cruise - March, 2005 On March 20th, 2005 Schley and I celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary with our third cruise. We love Royal Caribbean, but decided to try Carnival this time to see what they are like. The ship was Carnival Miracle, and it sailed a 7 night Western Caribbean itinerary out of Tampa. We made stops at Georgetown, Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Mexico, and Belize City in Belize. We were unable to stop in Costa Maya, due to high swells at the port. Picture taking time on this cruise, was split by also recording digital video as well. As a result, there are parts of the ship (pool decks for example) and parts of our port excursions that are not reflected here. Click on a thumbnail below to view the full size picture.
The Ship The Carnival Miracle is a 963 ft. long, 88,500 ton ship that began her short sailing career right here in Jacksonville, FL.
Georgetown, Grand Cayman In Grand Cayman, we went to the town called "Hell", the Turtle Farm, and Stingray City. There were several other ships in port that day as well, including "Enchantment Of The Seas" (pictured first), which we sailed on this past October. Other ships included the "Norwegian Majesty", Royal Caribbean's "Grandeur Of The Seas" and "Splendor Of The Seas", as well as a ship from Costa cruise line. The five Stingray City pictures below were taken by one of our tour guides, using her underwater camera housing.
Cozumel / Playa Del Carmen, Mexico In Cozumel, we took a ferry to Playa Del Carmen. We then took a bus to the Mayan ruins of Tulum. This once great Mayan city sits on a cliff overlooking the Caribbean. Back at port in Cozumel, we also saw Royal Caribbean's "Navigator Of The Seas" and the "Grand Princess" from Princess cruiselines. Yes, the water was cold, which is why we wore our spring wetsuits.
